Inpatient therapy for personality disorders
Personality disorders are mental health conditions marked by instability in emotions, self-image and relationships. They are often accompanied by impulsive behaviours and intense fear of abandonment.
The symptoms depend on the type of personality disorder. Many of the symptoms of different personality disorders overlap. Common signs of a personality disorder can include:
- strange or unpredictable behaviour
- suspicion and distrust (not trusting others)
- taking risks
- extreme mood swings or emotional outbursts
- difficulty with relationships
- problems at school or work
- need for instant gratification (immediate pleasure or reward)
Personality disorders tend to start in adolescence (teenage years). The thoughts and behaviours become more firmly fixed in adulthood. People with personality disorders might not be aware that they have a problem. They may find it hard to seek help. Family or friends may be severely affected by caring for someone with a personality disorder and they may be the ones to seek help.
Inpatient therapy for personality disorders
Designed for people living with personality disorders, our inpatient therapy program helps individuals understand and better manage their symptoms, regulate their emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and enhance their overall wellbeing.
Our program provides mental health therapies for people living with a personality disorder to help manage their symptoms better and set them on a journey of optimal mental health and wellbeing.
Our experienced mental health professionals are dedicated to providing effective interventions and guiding participants towards achieving long-lasting positive change and outcomes.
Program elements
Comprehensive assessment
The program begins with a comprehensive mental health assessment by a senior psychiatrist who develops an individualised treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
Group therapy sessions
We conduct our program via group therapy sessions which are facilitated by our skilled mental health team. These sessions provide a safe space to share experiences, gain insights, and learn valuable coping strategies.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
We provide dialectical behaviour therapy, an evidence-based therapy that helps participants develop skills to regulate their emotions, manage difficult situations and improve interpersonal relationships.
Skill-building sessions
The program includes skill-building sessions in emotion regulation, self-care, communication skills, boundary setting and a range of other areas to help you effectively manage symptoms.
Mindfulness and relaxation techniques
Our program incorporates mindfulness and relaxation techniques to promote self-awareness, reduce stress, and cultivate emotional wellbeing.
Aftercare planning
To support long-term success, the program includes comprehensive aftercare planning, including relapse prevention strategies, referral to community resources, and ongoing support options.
