Matilda Nepean’s cardiac rehabilitation program is an individualised program that’s expertly guided by our multidisciplinary team consisting of rehabilitation specialists, exercise physiologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers and dietitians.
This program – which focuses on education and reconditioning – is designed to assist with your cardiac rehabilitation journey. It will assist with managing activities of daily living and improve your overall endurance and quality of life.
Cardiopulmonary inpatient rehabilitation program outline
Depending on your specific needs, the program may include:
- assessments by different members of the multidisciplinary team
- education sessions from physiotherapists and occupational therapists
- supervised and structured gym sessions
- assistance and guidance with activities of daily living to improve independence
- medication and symptom management
- regular reviews with your rehabilitation consultant
This program can help reduce disability and mortality, reduce hospital readmission, improve your fitness and wellbeing to improve your quality of life.
Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programs are available as either inpatient programs or day programs.

Access rehabilitation services as a day patient or an inpatient
Depending on your needs, you can access cardiopulmonary rehabilitation as an inpatient (where you stay at the hospital) or as a day patient. You can find out more about our day rehabilitation programs here.
Our wellness program enables you to continue your exercise program
Learn more about opportunities to continue your exercise regime at the end of your rehabilitation program via our day wellness program, which is supervised independent exercise for one hour in either the gym or the hydrotherapy pool.
